Reynisfjara Black Beach is undoubtedly the most famous and most dangerous beach in Iceland. While you can sunbathe here during sunny times, under no circumstances should you enter the water or even approach it. Despite numerous warnings, the local ocean has unfortunately claimed several lives (NEVER TURN YOUR BACK TO THE SEA!!!). The beach stretches almost 6 kilometers long, and you can walk from the Reynisdrangar cliffs past the Hálsanefshellir cave almost to Dyrhólaey.
You’ll find Reynisjara on the southern tip of Iceland, about 5 kilometers west of the town of Vík í Mýrdal. From Road No. 1, turn onto Road No. 254 and after about 6 kilometers, you will reach the parking area. From there, it’s only a few dozen meters on foot to Reynisfjara Beach.
