Brúarhlöð is a canyon on the Hvítá River, approximately 9 kilometers downstream from the Gullfoss waterfall. Compared to many natural beauties in the southern Iceland area, Brúarhlöð is certainly not among the top attractions, but if you have the time and inclination to spend some moments in an interesting and not overly tourist-frequented place, then it can be a good choice. There is a spacious parking lot just beyond the bridge over the Hvítá River, and it is only a few dozen meters to the river and the Brúarhlöð canyon. This part of the river is also popular among rafting enthusiasts.
