Geysir

Geysir – water erupting from the ground is a breathtaking natural phenomenon where boiling water is forcefully expelled upwards, reaching heights of several dozen meters.

Geysir is the true original of all geysers worldwide, with the first mentions dating back to 1294.

Geysir is currently dormant. It was active between June 17 and 20, 2000, when the water reached a height of up to 122 meters. The last time Geysir was active was in the summer of 2009 and possibly in 2016.

Fortunately, there is another geyser in the area – Strokkur. It erupts approximately every 6 minutes and can be found just a few dozen meters away.

Geysir is easily accessible and is part of the famous route known as the Golden Circle.
