Viewpoint and a view of Gullfoss waterfall from the east side of the Hvítá River. Gullfoss waterfall is one of the most visited places in Iceland where on the western side you will never be alone. This spot on the other side of the Hvítá River is the complete opposite and the likelihood of being alone here is very small. And the views are worth it. It’s just pure nature and the roaring waters of the river. And on the opposite side, you can watch people like ants.
There is an unpaved road leading here, but with some caution, you can reach the parking lot at the viewpoint with any car. From the western side of Gullfoss waterfall, drive south on road no. 30 over the bridge across the Hvítá River. Then take road 349 and turn right before the Tungufell farm. After about 4 kilometers, you will reach a small parking lot, and from there, it’s about a 15-minute walk to Gullfoss waterfall.
