Stuðlafoss is set amidst high basalt columns, a landscape so typical for Iceland (similar to the waterfalls Aldeyjarfoss, Svartifoss, and Dettifoss). Along with the Faxi and Kirkjufoss waterfalls, it is part of the so-called ‘Waterfall Circle’, a delightful day of Nordic walking in the beautiful nature of eastern Iceland.
It is less than an hour’s walk from Laugarfell, where you can also find geothermal baths.
