Tröllkonuhlaup is a waterfall on the Þjórsá River located in the southwestern part of Iceland, just a few hundred meters from Route 26 and directly below Mount Búrfell. Since the operation of the local hydroelectric power plant, the water levels have been very variable, and it is possible that the river might be completely dry in this area, leaving no waterfall to be seen. The waterfall’s name comes from a legend about a troll woman who jumped across the river at this spot while going to visit her sister.
