If I had to point out my favourite place in Iceland, from all this beatiful places, I´d choose this particular one, Gjáin. Colorful valley is like revelation. If you do not believe in legendary creatures, come here! Since I first encountered this place, I believe the Elves do live. Only here, but definitely and for sure.
How to find the Gjáin valley:
At the turnoff from road nr. 26 (GPS: 64.153642, -19.672586) teke the road 332. After about 500 meters turn left and take road nr. 327. From here on, the road is signed as for 4×4. If you do not travel in such vehicle, you have to continue on foot for about 30 minutes. If you have one, just continue straight, there is a small parking lot (GPS: 64.149090, -19.736409). From there on it is just few meters to the Gjáin valley.
In the winter time you have to go on your own from the road nr. 26.
