Almannagjá

Almannagjá is a well-known rift that you can find in Þingvellir National Park right next to the information center, where you can head down between the rock walls to discover the beauty of the area. It is interesting because if you walk down from the center, the rock wall on the left is on the North American tectonic plate, and the wall on the right… is also on the North American tectonic plate. The romantic story that you are walking exactly along the tectonic boundary here is not true, but it is nice to hear.
