Grindavík

Grindavík is, or rather was, a nice port town on the southern coast of the Reykjanes Peninsula. Due to volcanic activity that appeared in the area after 800 years, it was first evacuated several times and later declared unstable, leading the government to buy all the houses. Currently, some economic activities still occur in the town during the day, but at night, everyone usually leaves, and Grindavík becomes a ghost town. There might be one functioning hotel in the town and a campsite available in the summer, but be prepared that the volcano might erupt at any moment, and you could be evacuated in the middle of the night.
