Abandoned shipwrecks on Hópsnes peninsula

On the Hópsnes peninsula, among all these wrecks of once quite substantial ships, you can get a good sense of how treacherous the waters are and how hard the life of fishermen and sailors can be. Nearly every shipwreck has an information panel with its story, allowing you to gain a good understanding of its history.

The peninsula is located southeast of Grindavík. A dirt and gravel path runs around it, but for the best experience, you might enjoy a two-hour walk.
