Þjóðveldisbærinn Stöng is a reconstructed (hence newly built) viking village built in 1974. For the authentic experience, you can visit the excavation of a historic farm buried in 1104 under the volcanic ash, the Stöng í Þjórsárdal.
How to Find Þjóðveldisbærinn Stöng
Next to the road nr. 32, close to the Hjálparfoss waterfall. You can park at the adjacent parking lot and enter the viking era.
