Sturlungalaug

Sturlungalaug, also known as Guðmunarlaug, is a small, perfectly natural thermal pond on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. One downside is its less accessible location, requiring a roughly 6 km drive on really poor roads and crossing several fences (please close them if you open them!). However, the water is delightfully warm and the grassy surroundings are pleasant. You can even use the mud at the bottom of the pond to make a facial mask as if you were at the Dead Sea. If you prefer a more accessible pond nearby, you can visit the thermal pond Landbrotalaug.

You’ll find Sturlungalaug at the entrance to the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. From road no. 54, turn onto road no. 55, and after about three kilometers, turn left and continue on a farm track.
