Skálanes
The Skálanes Nature Reserve is located on the southern shore of the Seyðisfjörður bay. A large number of birds nest and live here, including ducks, wagtails, Arctic terns, and others. The beautiful red building is a research station that frequently hosts international students.
Reaching here from the town of Seyðisfjörður can be somewhat complicated as you need to ford three rivers. If you do not have a vehicle capable of fording, there is a parking area before the first river, and you can continue on foot, with pedestrian bridges over the rivers.
