Elliðaey is one of the 15 islands that make up the Vestmannaeyjar archipelago. It is the northernmost island, so if you travel to Heimaey Island (the main, largest, and only inhabited island of the archipelago) by ferry, Elliðaey will be the first island you pass. This island is distinguished by its shape and the cabin built on its slope. Photographs of this island are very popular on social media. The best views of Elliðaey can be enjoyed from the summit of Heimaklettur Mountain.
Elliðaey is located between the southern coast of Iceland and Heimaey Island. However, unless you are a member of the association that owns Elliðaey, your chances of visiting the island are quite minimal.
