Hrútey í Blöndu is a small island on the Blandá River, located near the town of Blönduós. Hrútey í Blöndu is a nature reserve and a fantastic spot for a leisurely two-hour walk in nature, where you might momentarily forget that you are on a volcanic island. The area is covered with grass, and there are bushes and trees growing here. Many species of non-marine birds nest here, and a wide variety of insects can be found.
