An unassuming yet very charming campground, if such a thing can be said about a campsite, located not far from the town of Akureyri in a natural setting among trees and at a pleasant price.
The showers are warm, the toilets are clean, and the facilities overall are modern and well-maintained. There is a small kitchen available with hotplates, two tables and chairs, an outdoor sink for dishwashing, and a washing machine (without a dryer but with a clothesline). Near the toilets, there is also accessible WiFi and outlets for charging electronics. The area even includes a small children’s corner with slides and a sandbox.
The campground is situated in peaceful nature surrounded by hills and next to a stream with a waterfall, free from noise and light pollution, making it a perfect spot for star-gazing and sometimes even spotting the Northern Lights during clear weather. The surrounding area offers stunning views, and it is recommended to take the trail behind the campsite, which leads uphill and offers an amazing view of the landscape.
Despite its simplicity, the entire area feels cozy, well-maintained, and very welcoming.
