Hornbjarg

The magnificent rock pinnacles Kálfatindar and Jörundur are an integral part of the Hornbjarg cliff. Hornbjarg is one of the most iconic places in Iceland, but at the same time, due to its inaccessibility, it is one of the least visited. Getting here is not easy; if you don’t want to walk for weeks through the wilderness, you face a 70-kilometer boat trip from the town of Ísafjörður in the wild Arctic waters of the North Atlantic, and then a several-kilometer hike. From the nearby Hornvík campsite, it takes about 3 hours to reach here, beginning with Hafnarsandur beach, where you will have to wade through a river whose depth is significantly affected by the tides.
