Fjaðrárgljúfur is a beautifully colorful, popular, and according to Icelanders, the most beautiful canyon in the world.
Fjaðrárgljúfur was formed by erosion, stretches about 2 kilometers in length, and its walls reach up to 100 meters in height in some places. The Fjaðrá River flows through the canyon, and the Mögáfoss waterfall cascades into it.
You can find the Fjaðrárgljúfur canyon about 6 kilometers west of the town of Kirkjubæjarklaustur. At these coordinates (GPS: 63.762775, -18.118655), turn onto the local road and continue for about 2 kilometers. You will arrive at a local parking lot, from where you can walk to the canyon.
