Drynjandi

The official name of this waterfall on the Hvalá River is Gljúfrabúi, but it is better known as Drynjandi. And when I say better known, I mean that at least 10 people are aware of it. Yes, that’s how incredibly unknown this beautiful waterfall is.
You can find the waterfall on the eastern coast of the Strandir area. The journey to it is complicated; first, you must reach the end of road F649 (where there’s a ford, which is best crossed only during low tide), then cross a bridge over the Hvalá River and venture into unknown terrain. There are no markings here; your only guide must be intuition (and also GPS).
As a reward for all these hardships, you will be treated to a truly beautiful view of the waterfall, which at most a few dozen people see each year.
