The geothermal valley Reykjadalur is considered by many tourists and locals to be the best place in Iceland. Steaming earth, bubbling mud pools, a thermal river perfect for a relaxing bath, stunning nature, and a nearly four-kilometer trek from the parking lot – mostly uphill. This is Reykjadalur (Valley of Fire).

Park at the local parking lot (GPS: 64.02136, -21.21119) and set off on foot up the hill; you’ll be there in 40 minutes.

The other option is to access it from the upper parking lot, which requires a four-wheel-drive vehicle.
