Heiðarfjall, possibly also called Hrollaugsstaðafjall, is a 267-meter-high mountain on the Langanes peninsula that served as a military base. To this day you can find the remains of buildings and structures there, and the former military activity also left behind environmental damage. The mountain is nicknamed the Foggy Mountain, and it is quite possible that even if the weather is beautiful all around and you tell yourself that the views from the summit will surely be wonderful, in the end it may not turn out that way. This misty haze creates a gloomy atmosphere that suits an abandoned military base quite well.
