Nautagil is a smaller canyon in the Askja area, located near the F910 road about 4 kilometers south of the Dreki base. The canyon is mainly famous because astronauts from NASA trained here before their departure to the Moon in the Apollo program. It is true that the terrain in the canyon is indeed very unusual, with many minerals being so light that they float, making movement on such a surface quite peculiar.
