Vaðlasandur is a beautiful black sandy beach at the very end of roads 958/954 in the Vaðlaoddi area. The beach is interesting because it is mostly separated from the mainland by the Beljandi River and Lake Lón. The sea in this area is named Vöðlavík.
Despite not being an F-road, you need to ford two rivers on your way here, so you need a vehicle capable of doing so. The beach itself doesn’t have to be the sole reason for your trip to this area; there are also nearby treks, such as the one to Iceland’s easternmost point – Gerpir.
