The Gonga viewpoint over the Markarfljótsgljúfur canyon is located about 2 kilometers from road F261. From the small parking area, it’s just a few dozen meters to the edge of the canyon. However, you’ll soon see that it’s worth taking a short walk to explore certain spots, so you’ll likely spend several tens of minutes here. In addition to the view of the Markarfljót River, you’ll also see the Mýrdalsjökull glacier.
