Stuðlagil is a beautiful canyon with basalt columns on both banks of the Jökla river. You can enjoy the canyon from both sides with definitely better experience from the East side of the river.
How to find Stuðlagil:
Just next to the road nr. 923 in East Iceland. To visit the Stuðlagil canyon from the west side, simply park your car on a nearby parking lot. If you wish to experience the canyon from the east side, then drive north to the settlement 4 kilometers north. Park your car there, cross the bridge and go back on your own untill you reach the canyon.
