Gljúfrasmiður is a waterfall in the Icelandic highlands on the river Jökulsá á Fjöllum. At the location of the waterfall, it seems as though the river flows into a canyon. Access to the waterfall is complicated, as the surface is made up of variously sized stones, and how close you can get primarily depends on how much water is in the river. Gljúfrasmiður is located near the F88 road, 4 kilometers south of the Herðubreiðarlindir area and within sight of Mount Herðubreið. There is convenient parking available at the site.
