Mígandi is one of the tallest waterfalls in Iceland, sharing the eighth spot with the Granni waterfall at 100 meters. What makes it particularly interesting and unique is that it falls directly into the ocean waters of Eyjafjörður fjord. The best view is from the sea, and since these waters are the most popular whale-watching spot in Iceland, there is a lot of boat traffic here. Even if you visit the Mígandi waterfall from the mainland, whale watching in the coastal waters can enhance your experience.

If you take a ferry to the island of Grímsey, you will see the Mígandi waterfall on your left after about 45 minutes of sailing.

You can find the Mígandi waterfall about 8 kilometers north of the town of Dalvík, along road number 82 on the western shore of Eyjafjörður fjord. It is located approximately where the road starts to climb towards the tunnel (if you are coming from Dalvík), and it is not visible from the road (unless the wind is so strong that the waterfall appears to be ‘falling upwards’). However, there is a small parking area next to the road from where you can see Mígandi. From there, you can head towards the waterfall.
