Brúnavík Bay is a fairly popular destination for hikes in the Borgarfjörður Eystri area. Here you will find a beach called Brúnavíkursandur, but before it there is also the river Brúnavíkurá, which may need to be waded across. If you don’t want to wade, the hike is still worth it for the views alone.

The trail starts almost at the end of Road 94, where there is a small parking lot dedicated specifically to this trek. You have about 4 kilometers ahead of you, with an elevation gain of 350 meters. It will take you roughly 2 hours, so if you don’t plan to continue anywhere further from Brúnavík, expect to be back in about 5-6 hours.
