Drekkingarhylur is a small pond on the Öxará River, which has a rather grim past. In the 16th–18th centuries, women convicted of serious crimes, such as adultery, infanticide, or perjury, were executed here. The condemned were put into a sack and thrown right here into Drekkingarhylur. The last such execution dates back to 1739, so you no longer have anything to fear.
