Þóristindur is a mountain near the F228 road, and its peak is one of those places where you’ll have truly beautiful views of the southwest Icelandic landscape, with the summit still being relatively easily accessible. Initially, you walk for a long time on flat terrain, then you’re faced with a steeper but not overly long ascent, followed by a direct path to the summit.
Many place names in Iceland are associated with trolls or outlaws; this is the latter case, where the name refers to a man named Þórir.
