Ófærufoss

One of the most beautiful waterfalls in the Icelandic hinterland is Ófærufoss. An interesting fact is that it falls into the valley of the Eldgjá volcanic crater, the largest volcanic crater in the world, stretching 50 kilometers long and up to 600 meters wide. There are several hiking trails of varying difficulty nearby, and you can spend several hours there without getting bored.

Ófærufoss is located a few kilometers off the F208 road, about halfway between Landmannalaugar and the Ring Road (crossing several rivers in both directions is necessary). From the parking area, it takes less than fifteen minutes to walk to Ófærufoss. The path is easy, and you will simply follow upstream.
