Heljarkambur means Hell’s Ridge, and if you come here, you will understand why this place is called that. There are chains placed here, with a bit of care you can get through the place without much trouble.
There are two ways to reach Heljarkambur from Þórsmörk. You can either follow the traditional Fimmvörðuháls path, or you can come here via the trail in Hvannárgil Canyon.
You can also take this place as a day trip destination from the Þórsmörk area, going up one of these paths and down the other.
