Faxi (also known as Faxfoss and formerly known as Laugarárfoss) is a magnificent waterfall on the Jökulsá á Fljótsdal river, located in the beautiful nature of eastern Iceland. Together with Kirkjufoss and Stuðlafoss, it forms the so-called ‘waterfall circuit.’ It is important not to confuse this Faxi with another Icelandic waterfall of the same name located in southwestern Iceland. Just before the waterfall, two rivers (Jökulsá í Fljótsdal and Laugará) converge, allowing you to stand between them and fully experience the thunderous roar of the water. It’s the ultimate relaxation, and even if your phone’s ringtone volume is set to 11, you won’t hear it here.
The best way to reach Faxi is from Laugarfell, where you can also enjoy the natural geothermal baths of Laugarfell.
