The winglet of a Boeing 757 aircraft features the oath of an aircraft mechanic. This oath commits the mechanic to performing all tasks with maximum diligence.

The oath states:
I solemnly swear that I will honor with the highest respect the rights and responsibilities granted to me upon receiving my aircraft mechanic certification.

Aware that the safety and lives of others depend on my expertise and judgment, I will never knowingly expose others to any danger that I would not subject myself or my loved ones to.

I promise never to accept or undertake a job for which I do not have complete knowledge; I will not be influenced by any superior, authorized or not, to approve an aircraft or equipment as airworthy against my better judgment.

I will not allow myself to be forced into a decision that is against my conscience or the legal regulations and manufacturer’s guidelines. I will not accept any bribes or personal benefits, nor will I declare an aircraft or equipment airworthy if I have any doubts after personal inspection, or if I doubt the competence of another worker who performed the task.

I am fully aware of the great responsibility I bear as an aircraft mechanic in approving aircraft and equipment as airworthy. Therefore, I will not deviate from this oath in any respect.
