Drynjandi

The official name of this waterfal on the Hvalá River is Gljúfrabúi, but it is more commonly known as Drynjandi. And when I say more commonly, I mean that at least 10 people know about it. Yes, that’s how incredibly unknown this beautiful waterfall is.
You can find the waterfall on the eastern coast of the Strandir region. The journey to it is complicated; first, you must reach the end of the F649 road (where there’s a ford, best navigated at low tide), then cross a bridge over the Hvalá River and embark on a path through unfamiliar terrain. There is no signage here, so your only guide should be intuition (and GPS as well).
The reward for all these hardships will be a truly beautiful sight of the waterfall, which is seen by at most a few dozen people a year.
