Selfoss is an 11-meter high, very rugged waterfall on the Jökulsá á Fjöllum River and is the first in the waterfall trio of Selfoss – Dettifoss – Hafragilsfoss. You can admire it from both sides of the river, and it is characterized by its V-shape.
You can reach Selfoss waterfall from both sides of the river. In both cases, use the parking lot for Dettifoss waterfall, either from the east or the west side. Walk to Dettifoss waterfall and then continue 800 meters upstream, and you’re there.
Do not confuse Selfoss waterfall with the town of the same name, which is on the other side of Iceland.
