Helgafell is a hill with an elevation of only 73 meters. Yet from its summit, you will have quite a nice view, and there is a stone shelter against the wind and a signpost with directions in the area. You can find it a few kilometers south of the town Stykkishólmur.
Helgafell is one of the few places in Iceland where there is an entrance fee, for which you get a well-maintained path to the top, along with toilets and seating by Lake Helgafellsvatn. Additionally, if you don’t speak on your way up, it is said that three of your wishes will come true.
