Kollsvík

Kollsvík is a bay and a historical settlement in the Westfjords. According to tradition, it was originally settled by a man named Kollur, after whom it is named. The area used to have farms such as Kollsvík and Láganúpur, and there were also several fishing stations where fish were caught and dried. The region experienced its greatest prosperity during the periods of 1350–1750 and 1890–1940, when families lived here, making a living from fishing and agriculture. The last permanent residents left Kollsvík in 2002.
And now you are here, so enjoy it.
