Skálar is a place at the very forgotten end of Iceland, and even further beyond. It’s one of those places that, once you leave, generations could pass before anyone even notices 🙂
You can find Skálar on the eastern coast of the Langanes peninsula. Getting there with a regular 2WD is fairly easy, although there are a few spots along the way where a higher clearance would come in handy. You definitely don’t need to worry about being in anyone’s way, even if you were to leave your car in the middle of the road, as traffic here is sparse. Surprisingly, there’s even a small parking area complete with functional toilets.
