Láganúpsver

Láganúpsver was a fishing station that operated from the earliest times of Icelandic settlement. In the 14th century, with the development of trade in dried cod, the number of boats began to increase, and by the 16th century, there were about fifteen fishing huts and around thirty boats operating here. Later, however, the station declined due to smaller catches, and by the early 18th century, only four huts were in operation. In the 18th century, fishing in the area resumed, this time further north in Kollsvík. Nearby on the shores stood the settlement of Grundabakkar, with fourteen to fifteen inhabitants who lived mainly from fishing.
