Kollsvíkurver

Kollsvík was a significant fishing station in the Westfjords, active from the Middle Ages until the early 20th century. In the summer, fishermen from nearby and more distant places gathered on the sandy beach, caught fish, dried them on stone walls, and some lived here year-round with their families. Stone cairns and a cave on the Syðriklettar cliffs, which served as a base for the fishermen but is now no longer visible, aided in orientation while landing. The place was also marked by tragedies, where two men lost their lives attempting to land. Today, you can only imagine what it used to be like here. And for these imaginings, you will have absolute peace, as very few people visit this place.
