Gerðuberg is the largest basalt wall in Iceland, approximately 500 meters in length, with hexagonal columns ranging from 7 to 14 meters in height. You can find Gerðuberg in the southern part of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, essentially at its beginning. From the road, you turn onto a local unpaved but well-traversable road, and after two kilometers of driving, you are right there. From the first parking lot, a trail leads up to the top of the cliff, from where you can view the basalt columns as well as the surrounding landscape from above.
