Bjarnafoss Waterfall got its name from an ancient inhabitant of the area, a wealthy farmer named Bjarni. According to legend, Bjarni threw his money into this very waterfall under very strange circumstances. If you believe the story, you might try searching for the treasure (similar to the legend of the treasure in the cave behind Fardagafoss waterfall). If you don’t believe in the tale, the waterfall can still enhance your stay on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula.
You can find Bjarnafoss on the southern coast of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, where road no. 54 veers from the coast into the mountains. There is a parking lot nearby (GPS: 64.842707, -23.402344), from which you can already see the waterfall.
